General James Jones

Gen. James Jones, adjutant general of the South Carolina Militia, commissioner for the building of the State House in Columbia, and quartermaster general of SC during the war.

James Jones and other members of the family of Matthias Jones are buried in the small family cemetery where the road from Saluda joins the road through Ridge Spring.

The cemetery is maintained by a bequest made by Elizabeth Clara Jones (Mrs. Tillman Watson). The historical marker was obtained and the cemetery dedicated in March 2007.
