James Armstrong Duncan I (David Duncan's brother), who came for a visit and was trapped by the Civil War, spent four years in Spartanburg, went back to Ireland at the end of the war.
This letter is to Tilla Lomax (Jones), age 12, when he was still in Spartanburg but teaching school out in the county.
